October 2014 Chapter Meeting & I-Day

This month's meeting is a combination of our I-Day and New Designee conferment ceremony.

Note the location for this event is the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center

Our speaker for the lunch meeting is Meredith Mangan, CPCU Society Leadership Council Member.
Meredith will remind all of us what it means to uphold the CPCU designation as the highest in the industry for ethical and professional standards and excellence. 

Our conferment ceremony will include 22 new designees.

We hope all members can join in celebrating the accomplishment of our newest CPCUs.
 

Menu options for this month's meeting include your choice of:

Michigan Chicken: oven roasted chicken breast topped with Herkner's Michigan Cherry Sauce over white and wild rice
or
Baked Meat Lasagna topped with smoked tomato sauce

The fee to attend the entire I-Day event is $40
The fee for attending the chapter lunch meeting and conferment is $30
The fee for attending the I-Day event only is $10
The cost of parking is included in all options.

Meredith Mangan

Meredith K. Mangan joined Lexington Insurance Company, an AIG company, in June 2007, and serves as associate general counsel in the legal department. Her primary responsibility is division counsel for the Lexington casualty and healthcare divisions.   

Meredith is a graduate of the College of William and Mary (B.A.), The New England School of Law (J.D.) and Boston University Law School (LL.M.). She received the CPCU designation in 2004, and serves on the CPCU Society Leadership Council and is a past president of the Boston Chapter. She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts. 

Phil Zeller

Phil Zeller is president of Ralph Nichols Group, Inc. (RNG), which has offered Dale Carnegie Training in southern Michigan for over 40 years. He has trained thousands of insurance professionals, tens of thousands of business professionals, and been recognized as one of the top trainers in the world by Dale Carnegie Training.

He’s been a sales manager representing a Fortune 100 company, a college professor, a business owner, a radio talk show host, and an international speaker. Phil also holds the designation of Master Trainer through Dale Carnegie Training.

Wendy Williams

Farm Bureau Insurance Company

With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, Ms. Williams has dedicated
her career to investigating insurance fraud. Ms. Williams holds designations as a Fraud
Claims Law Associate and Fraud Claims Law Specialist from the American Education
Institute.

Ms. Williams has conducted a variety of training sessions related to fraud and
continues her education on the area of fraud detection and investigation through various
trade seminars, including the NICB.

Lorie Graham CPCU, ARe, ALCM, ARM, ARC, ARP, AU, AIAF, AIM, ARM-E, AFIS

Senior Underwriting and Corporate Risk Manager
American Agricultural Insurance Company

Lorie has been in the insurance and reinsurance industry for 29 years. She has worked primarily in commercial and agribusiness underwriting, and risk management.

She is a senior underwriter and corporate risk manager at American Agricultural Insurance Company (AAIC). She leads the farm initiative at AAIC, which is dedicated to providing resources, research and solutions for the Farm Bureau Insurance companies and the farm customer.

Lorie performs research and product development for insurance-related issues and opportunities. She is also the enterprise risk manager for AAIC.

Sgt. Scott LeRoy

Michigan State Police – Fire Investigation Unit

Sgt. Scott LeRoy has been with the Michigan State Police for 25 years. For the last 13 years he’s been with their fire investigation unit, working out of the Paw Paw office.

He has also been an active member of the State Police’s methamphetamine response team for the last 12 years. In that time he has processed over 100 methamphetamine labs and testified as an expert witness in both fire investigation and methamphetamine lab production.

Sgt. LeRoy has taught meth lab awareness around the state and in other states. He was a key member of a national research group that examined the fire dangers associated with “one-pot” meth labs.
